The world’s largest art and culture festival takes place in Edinburgh, Scotland during the month of August. In fact it is not one single festival, but a collection of festivals that take place at the same time.
This whole lesson explores the origins of this iconic festival, and puts the spotlight on the two biggest festivals: the elite and classy Edinburgh International Festival, and the wacky and zany Festival Fringe. Then there is a puzzle which celebrates some of Scotland‘s most popular cultural exports, and finally a writing and discussion task.
There is enough material here for perhaps 2 hours or more, though the material can be diced and sliced at the teacher’s disgression.
