Most countries in the world celebrate a national day or an independence day, and perhaps the one which is most well-known takes place on the Fourth of July and celebrates the independence of the United States of America.
This whole lesson plan starts with a warm-up which introduces some of the vocabulary in the texts. The first text is background reading of the origins of Independence Day in the US. This is followed by a trio information gap, each student having the text to a different independence day celebration. The students share their information to complete a question chart.
For pre-intermediate – intermediate students, taking about 45 minutes.
